7 DAYS SAFARI TO QUEEN ELIZABETH, BWINDI AND LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Day 1: The Equator & Queen Elizabeth NP

Drive early morning towards the west from Kampala and have a stopover at the equator for photographs, Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range for much of the journey. We will continue through savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredible long curving horns. A game drive En route may be rewarded with views of Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Hyenas and a variety of Antelope species. After lunch, go sightseeing in the crater region - it is a marvel! Visit the Katwe Salt works for a glimpse into traditional salt mining. Dinner and over night at Mweya Safari Lodge / Jacana lodge(BLD)

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking from the Kyambura 

This morning we will leave for the 08.00am chimpanzee  trekking in Kyambura gorge. Expect to see various primates most especially Chimpanzee of different species, Black and white Colobus monkeys and other animals like antelopes, hyenas, Lion and many others in the middle of savanna grassland. This gorge is a home of very many bird species.
We will return to the lodge for lunch and a chance to relax by the side of the swimming pool before taking an afternoon boat trip along on Kazinga channel. This will give you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippo’s huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others. After this wonderful afternoon, a slow drive back to the lodge. Dinner and over night at Mweya Safari Lodge / Jacana lodge (BLD)

Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable NP

After Breakfast, leave for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. We will drive through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth called Ishasha and try to find the famed Ishasha tree-climbing lions before continuing on to Bwindi, home to the few remaining mountain gorillas. Here we will take lunch enroute. The road then drops down into a valley, to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the mountain gorillas! Bird life and primate life in Bwindi is quite superb, and there is an incredible variety of flora. Bwindi is the Bird watchers haven! It holds 348 species of birds and supports 24 of 26 Albertine Rift Endemics that occur in Uganda; and seven red data book species. Overnight at Gorilla Resort/Mantana tented camp (Full Board)

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking from the Impenetrable Forest

Wake up early morning for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking.  Before 8:00 am report to the ranger station for a brief talk by one of the rangers as well as registration; the guides will then take you to track the gorillas through the bush pushing your way through the undergrowth and parting thick creepers.
When the gorillas are sighted, visitors will be guided to within 6 metre of them and visitors; you will be told to sit around these animals for a whole hour gazing into their big round eyes. These giants are so powerful and can sometimes weigh up to 250kilos. A reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes, as this trek can take from half an hour to 9 hours. Take with you lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences. It’s amazing to listen to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback as well as watch only about 650 of these beautiful creatures left as Park Guides interpret the flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the Gorillas. In the afternoon relax at the Camp or an option of taking a forest walk to see how the Ugandans live. Overnight at Gorilla Resort/Mantana tented camp (Full Board)

Day 5: Lake Mburo National Park Tour

After breakfast we will depart for Lake Mburo National Park. This scenic drive will take you to Mbarara where you will stop for lunch before making our final descent to Lake  Mburo National Park. This Park contains an extensive area of wetland which is a habitat for a variety of birds including the rare shoebill stork The park harbors several species of mammals including Zebras, impalas, elands, topi and buffaloes, its sculptured landscape with rolling grassy hills and idyllic lakeshores. After checking in, take a dug out canoe ride where you will spot hippos, crocodiles and variety of water birds.

Day 6: Lake Mburo Guided Nature Tour

After an early morning breakfast you will have a guided nature walk. A ranger guide takes you on foot to the bush. Lake Mburo is the only place in this part of Uganda where you can see zebra and Impala and it’s also the best place to see the African Eland, Africa’s largest antelope!  You will arrive at Kampala in the late afternoon. Overnight at Africana Hotel/Speke Hotel

Day 7: Airport Transfer

Your safari guide will collect you from your hotel and transfer you to Entebbe International Airport for your outbound flight
