Day 1 Uganda Wildlife Education Centre & the Boatride to Ssesse Islands
Transfer from Kampala in the morning to Entebbe, then to Uganda wildlife Education center (UWEC) for a morning nature walk, then travel to the shores of Lake Victoria where a Ferry will transfer you to the Ssesse Islands at 0200. Arrive in the early afternoon for an afternoon walk on the Sandy beaches before dinner and overnight at the Ssese Islands Club or Mirembe resort. (Meal Plan - BLD).
Have breakfast at the hotel then relax at the beach. Have a forest walk and a cycling experience on the Island. Return for lunch and then enjoy a 2-4 hours boat ride to visit a fishing village and see how other people live! Return to the Island for beach games like swimming and volleyball, and just chill out at the beach in the afternoon before the Campfire. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel. (Meal Plan - BLD).
After a Relaxed breakfast, board a ferry back to the main land. We will depart for Lake Mburo National Park. The scenic drive will take you to Mbarara where you will stop for lunch before making our final descent to Lake Mburo National Park. The park harbors several species of mammals including impalas, buffaloes, Zebras, elands and topi. After check in and relax around the swimming pool. After dinner go on a night game drive looking for civits, hyenas, jennet cats and leopards Or you could just go on a night game walk in the forest surrounding the lodge. Overnight at Luxury Mantana Tented camp (FB)
An early start – a wonderful chance to take a game drive which is a habitat for a variety of birds including the rare shoebill stork You will have a chance to view several species of mammals including impalas, buffaloes, Zebras, elands, and topi. Return to the lodge for lunch before having a guided nature walk which takes you to the Salt Lick Area. The strategically located wooden platform offers a chance to see at least four different species of animals at any one point while they lick the salty soil. Overnight at Luxury Mantana Tented camp (FB)
After breakfast, we will head through the highlands to Kabale, where we will stop for lunch. The journey offers excellent views of the triangular peaks of the Virunga volcanoes. The road takes us into a valley, to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, known for mountain gorillas. This park is home of the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates to see including the blue and red tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it.
Overnight at Gorilla Resort/ Mantana tented camp (Full Board)
After breakfast and briefing by park ranger guides, start a 30 minutes - 9 hours trek to find the Mountain gorillas with packed lunch. The tracking starts at the area where the gorillas were the previous day. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities. Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. After a full hour with the gorillas, return to your accommodations for dinner and overnight. Overnight at Gorilla Resort/ Mantana tented camp (Full Board)
After a morning breakfast depart north for Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive takes you through the unique western rift valley escarpment. Drive through the famous Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions before proceeding to the park headquarters. Arrive in the evening and check in at your Lodge. This park is a home to a diversity of habitats which include lowland forest, savanna and Wetlands. The Park has a remarkable diversity of birds with over 550 species, creating the largest birders' Paradise, of any protected area in Africa.
Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana lodge (FB)
After Breakfast, Have an early morning game drive and spot Elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, hippos and others. We will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel gives you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippo’s huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others. After this wonderful afternoon, a slow drive back to Lodge.
Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana lodge (FB)
Following breakfast, we will depart to Kibale Forest National Park with the most breathtaking scenery in the park. We will then continue to the park, arriving in the late afternoon. Tonight you will sleep in Ndali Lodge/Rwenzori View guest house prior to your chimpanzee tracking in the morning.
Overnight at Ndali Lodge/ Primates lodge (FB)
After Breakfast, Report at Kanyanchu Tourist Centre where tourist activities begin and set out in the forest at 08.00am to track habituated chimps – these delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature. Chimp sighting are not guaranteed on these walks but the odds encountering them have improved greatly in recent years and stand at over 90%. During the activity, you can expect to see at least two or three other types of primates most probably the grey-cheeked mangabey and red-tailed monkey. There is tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. A network of shady forest trails provides much to delight botanists and butterfly lovers, while birders are in for a treat with 335 species recorded including the endemic Prirogrine’s ground thrush. We will depart to Kampala arriving in the afternoon.
