The safari starts with Murchison Falls National Park which is known by many tourists as the most beautiful park in Uganda. The safari will then take you to Kibale Forest which harbors thirteen species of primates including the chimpanzees-our closest relatives. The primate population in the park is the highest in Africa. Walking through this verdant tropical moist forest is also a thrilling experience. From Bigodi Wetland many forest and swamp birds can be seen. During your stay in Kibale you will visit Amabeere Ga Nyinamwiru Caves and the Crater Lake valley zone.
This safari will then link you to Queen Elizabeth National park. Located on the savannah plains below the Rwenzori and expect to see the great game of Africa which includes elephants, tree climbing lions, comical warthogs, buffaloes, hippos and leopards. To make it a true Ugandan safari, you will then be taken to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to track gorillas in the ever green moist tropical forest. In Bwindi there are four habituated families and the gorillas there live deep in the thicker tropical forest. Tracking is however a more challenging adventurous activity since it involves climbing steep hillsides. Nature walks in the forest and community visits also contribute to a more fantasy filled experienced.
The guide will pick you from your hotel and drive you to Entebbe airport. After reaching Murchison Falls National park, you will drive to the top of Uganda’s most spectacular and magnificent Murchison Falls to have a scenic view of how the Mighty Nile squeezes itself from over 1 kilometer wide down through a 7-meter canyon. Relax and then return for dinner and overnight at Sambiya river lodge.
After breakfast in the morning, go for a game drive on the northern banks of the Nile River. While on the drive you may see different animals such as elephants, lions, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, oribi, bushbucks, Bohor reed bucks, hyenas, and if lucky leopards.. Relax as you wait for lunch and after lunch proceed to the Mighty Nile for a launch cruise to the bottom of the falls. On the cruise you may view and take photos of the game at close quarters. Amongst the game are schools of Crocodiles and Hippos basking along the banks of the lake. Many birds of different specie can also be seen. These include goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelican bee-eaters, kingfishers, Hornbills, cormorants and the rare shoebill stork. Dinner & Overnight at Sambiya River Lodge.
Take a morning game drive in search of the game you missed on the previous game drive then return to the lodge for breakfast. Relax as you wait for an early lunch at the lodge. Connect to the river for ferry crossing. Drive southwards for Kibale passing via the Albertine Escarpment of the western arm of the Great east African Rift valley on the Masindi-Hoima-Fort portal road. This drive takes you through the beautiful countryside composed of traditional homesteads and plantation farms. Reach Fort Portal town which rests in the shadow of the legendary “Mountains of the Moon,” late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/Budget Sky tree house/Crater Valley Kibale.
After breakfast you will drive to the Nyakasura area to see the breasts of the ancient princess in Chwezi Kingdom which were cut off and grew into a good scenic rock dripping with ‘milk’. You will then take a visit to the several hills found in close proximity. A climb to these hills is wonderful since it gives a good scenic view of the ranges of the Mountains of the Moon.
Then move to Fort Portal for lunch and later go to the palace of the King of Toro found on Kabarole hill. Have a brief history of this Kingdom and then proceed to the Karambi tombs of the three past great rulers of the Kingdom. After an interaction with the Toro culture-return to Ndali Lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you will drive to Kibale Forest National Park, for chimpanzee tracking. The activity starts at 8.00 am in the morning and may take up the whole day. The primates that may be seen include L’Hoest monkeys, Black and white-Colobuses, the Blues, Red-tailed monkeys and the grey cheeked Mangabeys. The forest is also blessed with dense forest cover, birds, butterflies and many small insects. The guide will also take you through tree identification as well as giving you factual information thus making the walk both informative and enjoyable. After Lunch proceed to the Bigodi swamp eco-tourism site for a walk. This walk is excellent for viewing bird life given that the trail is characterized with a number of birds. Then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight
After breakfast, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is mostly known as the savanna park. En route, take scenic photos of the great Mountains of the Moon natively called Mount Rwenzori. Have a stopover in Kasese town for lunch. Connect down to Queen Elizabeth physically cross the Equator. Take memorable photos and then enter the park through the main gates. Go for a launch cruise that will refresh your mind. On this memorable experience you may see lots of hippos, solitary buffaloes, elephants as well as birds of different species. Take on an evening game drive on which you may see a number of evening grazers summing up their day most especially antelopes. Relax at the lodge. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana Lodge
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and then go for an early morning game drive along Kasenyi track and Queens Mile in the park. While on the drive you ma be able to see the early risers and predators returning to their habitats. Expect to see Lions, Elephants, Cape buffaloes, Warthogs, leopard, hyena, mongoose, waterbucks, kobs, and lots of many small animals and birds. After the game drive, you will then connect to Bwindi Impenetrable national park via Maramagambo and Ishasha sector. Have lunch. Relax at the hotel. Dinner and over night at the Gorilla Resort/ Gorilla Forest Camp.
Have breakfast in the morning and then proceed to the forest for gorilla tracking. This activity will give you a thrilling adventure with the gorillas. These great apes are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to interact, watch and take photographs of them as they interact with in their families. You will have to move with your packed lunch since this activity may take the whole day and if time allows, you may go for a visit to the local community of the Bambuti (pygmies). Dinner and Overnight at the Gorilla resort/ Gorilla Forest Camp/ Buhoma home stead.
After an early breakfast, you will drive to Kayonza Airstrip for a return flight.
