In Uganda there are two gorilla parks where gorilla tracking is ´carried pout on a sustainable level. These parks include the Mgahinga Gorilla National park and Bwindi Impenetrable National park both found in Uganda’s south western region.
Mgahinga is situated on the extreme southwest corner of Uganda on the slopes of the Virunga Mountains that spreads to both Rwanda and Congo. The park only covers 28 square miles and has got several other tourist attractions which include leopards, buffaloes, bushbucks and the golden monkeys. Tracking from this park involves walking over steep slopes with in forest and this really make gorilla tracking not only a memorable but also an unforgettable experience.
Bwindi is another park where gorilla tracking can be carried out. This park lies in the south-western part of Uganda. It is home to about half of all the remaining mountain gorillas in the world. The park covers about 200 square miles of extremely dense rainforest and is a protected as a World Heritage site. Gorilla tracking is carried out in four different habituated gorilla groups: Nkuringo Group (‘N’ Group), the Mubare Group (‘M’ Group), the Habinyanja Group (‘H’ Group) and the Rushegura Group (‘R’ Group). One of the most interesting part of gorilla tracking from Bwindi is the fun of following the gorillas through the dense foliage of the Bwindi tropical rainforest.
