SAFARI LODGES

5 DAYS UGANDA PRIMATES TOUR (MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK AND KIBALE PRIMATES FOREST)

The primate safari takes you through Uganda’s national parks which include Murchison Falls National Park and Kibale National Park.
The safari starts from Kampala and ends in Kampala the capital city of Uganda. Murchison Falls National Park is the largest national park in Uganda. Many tourists who have visited Uganda’s parks believe that Murchison is the most beautiful; dominated by savanna, woodland, river wetland and tropical habitats which provide homes for 76 mammal species and Kaniyo Pabidi forest provides refugees for chimpanzees and primates.
This safari also takes you to Kibale Forest National park, the park with the highest primate density in Africa. It boasts thirteen primate species which include the chimpanzees, Red Colobus monkeys, the blues, black and white Colobus monkeys, galagos among others. Tracking the noisy chimpanzee families playing in the verdant forest canopy is an exciting experience while the Bigodi swamp presents the most unforgettable nature walk where you can see many bird species along the trail.

UGANDA PRIMATES SAFARI ITINERARY

Day 1: Depart to Murchison Falls National Park

You will be met by the safari guide, have a short briefing and then depart by road to Murchison falls National Park. The journey will take about 5-6 hours drive and involves good scenic views of the beautiful countryside. You will have a stop over at Masindi for lunch and then take a drive to the top of the falls. From the different viewpoints you may be able to see the refreshing spray as the second world’s longest river, the Mighty Nile thunders through different rapids from a 7-metre gap to fall over 40 metres below. After the scenic view continue to Paraa Lodge/Nile safari camp/Red chili for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Safari Game Drive and Primates Viewing

Following breakfast, go for a morning game drive which takes you through different habitats. While on the drive you may see different animals which include giraffes, Elephants, Bushbucks Lion, Jackal, Hartebeest and a variety of birdlife. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise on the Nile. While on the cruise different animals can be seen. These include schools of Hippos, crocodiles, water birds, sometimes elephants, among others. You can take some photographs which is another activity carried out during the trip since you will have a close view of wildlife of animals that roam the banks of the river for a drink in the afternoon heat. On docking at the mid River Island, you will also be able to take pictures of the beautiful Murchison Falls before returning to you accommodation for dinner and overnight

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest NP

After breakfast, set off from Murchison Falls National Park and head southwest towards Fort portal. The journey takes you through the Albertine Escarpment of the western arm of the Great East African Rift Valley. On arrival to the beautiful Fort Portal town located in the shadow of the mythical Mountains of the Moon, you will continue to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimp Tracking & Kibale Forest Primates

After an early breakfast, you will proceed to Kibale Forest National Park for Chimpanzee trekking. While on the track you will be able to see other different primate species which include Red-Colobuses, grey cheeked Mangabey, black-and-white Colobus monkeys, the blues as well as other wildlife such as butterflies, birds and many other small insects. Your tour guide will guide you through tree identification in the forest as well as in explaining to you the other features of the forest. After tracking return to the lodge for lunch after which you will take a nature walk through the Bigodi Swamp. On the walk different birds and mammals can be seen. Dinner and Overnight at Ndali Lodge/Primate Lodge/Rwenzori View Guest house/Kanyankyu Ecological site

Day 5: Return to Kampala.

Following breakfast, drive back to Kampala
